EVA Air orders over 30 new jets from Airbus.

Taiwan’s EVA Air has finalised a firm order with Airbus for the purchase of 18 long-range A350-1000s and 15 single-aisle A321neo. This sees the airline become the latest global carrier to select the A350-1000 for its future long haul requirements. In addition, the A321neo aircraft will bring new levels of efficiency for the carrier’s regional network.

Clay Sun, President of EVA Air said: “We have selected the Airbus aircraft following a thorough evaluation of the various models in each market segment. In both size categories we have selected the most modern and fuel efficient types, that offer the highest levels of passenger comfort. The aircraft also bring significant reductions in carbon emissions, which is in line with our company’s sustainability goals. For long-range operations the A350-1000 sets new standards in its class and will allow us to offer our passengers the best possible in-flight experience.”

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales, Commercial Aircraft, said: “This order marks a new phase in our relationship with EVA Air and we thank the airline for its confidence in Airbus. In the long range market, it’s another major endorsement for the A350-1000 as the natural replacement for previous generation aircraft in the larger widebody size category. The A350 is setting new standards across the board in terms of range, payload, fuel efficiency and passenger comfort, while making an immediate contribution to reduced carbon emissions.” 

“We also thank EVA for reaffirming its commitment to the latest generation Airbus single aisle family with its first direct purchase of the A321neo and we look forward to working closely with the airline as it prepares for its new Airbus fleet.”

As the industry’s long-range leader, the A350 is available in two sizes, with the A350-900 typically seating up to 350 passengers in a standard three-class configuration and the larger A350-1000 seating up to 410 passengers. 

Powered by versions of the latest generation Rolls-Royce engines, the aircraft can fly up to 9,700 nautical miles / 18,000 kilometres non-stop, using 25% less fuel than previous generation types and with a similar reduction in carbon emissions. For passengers, the A350 offers the highest levels of in-flight comfort with the quietest cabin, new lighting systems and the latest in-flight connectivity. The reduced cabin pressure also ensures that passengers arrive in better shape.

Topping the list of best business-class airlines is Oman Air, with an overall score of 8.39. The airline is based at Muscat International Airport and travels to over 50 destinations, including the likes of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt. 

Oman Air scores 5/5 across the board when it comes to its aircraft’s business-class seats, making it the highest-scoring airline in this category. It also receives 4/5 in areas such as staff service (both inflight and in the lounge), inflight entertainment, and lounge catering.

Following closely behind is Cathay Pacific Airways, which receives an overall score of 8.28. It is the largest airline in Hong Kong, with its head office located at Hong Kong International Airport. The airline provides flights to over 60 destinations, such as Seoul, Dubai, and Johannesburg.

Cathay Pacific Airways scores 4/5 for the comfort of its seats (both sitting and sleeping), as well as for their width and length, meaning those travelling long haul can rest comfortably. The airline also scores highly for its catering options in lounges, which include The Teahouse in the Pier Business lounge and Noodle Bar in the Wing Business lounge, both located at Hong Kong International Airport.

In third place is EVA Air, with an overall score of 7.93. It is one of the two largest airlines in Taiwan and has hubs in both Taoyuan International Airport and Kaohsiung International Airport. The airline flies to 30 different countries, including Thailand, Japan, and China.

EVA Air scores no less than 4/5 across all three categories, receiving 4 for both its lounges and inflight services and 4.6 for its seats. The airline scores 5/5 for the sitting comfort, width, and length of its seats, meaning that anyone choosing to travel with EVA Air is guaranteed to have a comfortable and relaxing experience when travelling long distances.

EVA Cargo to add another Boeing 777 Freighter

EVA Cargo has confirmed that due to growing cargo demand it is adding another Boeing 777 Freighter to its expanding fleet.

The Taipei based airline says the new aircraft is expected to arrive by the end of 2023 and joins the fleet of eight of these dedicated freighters. This is in addition to the deal it made with Israel Aerospace Industry Corporation (IAI) to convert three of EVA's passenger Boeing 777-300ER jets into pure cargo aircraft. By 2025, the carrier will have grown its cargo fleet to 12 freighters. The increased capacity will further strengthen EVA Air Cargo’s competitiveness in the airfreight market.

 "We continually evaluate passenger and cargo market needs so that we can appropriately increase capacity, meet demand and enhance our risk management capabilities. We also regularly review our fleet composition and develop strategies that will best equip us to secure a competitive edge in these markets,” said EVA President Clay Sun. EVA Air to Launch First Asian Pilot of the AOKpass

EVA Air has announced a pilot of AOKpass, the world’s most operationally advanced secure health certificate platform and app. The pilot, which will be AOKpass’ first in Asia, will be available on flights between Taiwan Taoyuan Airport (TPE) and San Francisco (SFO) / Los Angeles (LAX). Using the app, travellers will be able to securely verify their COVID-19 test results with the airline, from laboratories approved by local health authorities. They will benefit from fast track channels at San Francisco and Los Angeles, while retaining the privacy of their personal health data. Deployments of AOKpass have already involved over 500 flights, reflecting its strong focus on forming local, regional and global alliances for interoperability across jurisdictions and industries.

The pilot will see EVA Air join Air France, Alitalia, Etihad, Air Caraïbes and Corsair in live pilots of AOKpass.

Top marks for EVA Air

Travel + Leisure readers voted EVA Air in the Top-10 International Airlines of the magazine’s recent  25th annual World’s Best Awards reader survey. Based on personal travel experiences, readers were invited to rate airlines for cabin comfort, ground and inflight service, food and value. Survey results are available on the Travel + Leisure website now and will appear in the August 2020 print edition. 

The magazine points out that 4th ranked EVA moved up one spot from last year as readers praised its service, food and premium economy seats. One reader had even higher praise for flying in sitting up front: “My business class trip from Chicago to Taipei was the best airline experience I’ve ever had. Steak cooked to order, hot food options between mealtimes, plush down comforters and tons of legroom. Some business-class seats have a very narrow spot for your feet when the seat is laying flat but EVA’s seats had enough space for rolling over and getting a great night of sleep.”

Air Lease Corporation Announces Delivery of New Boeing 787-10 Aircraft to EVA Air

Air Lease Corporation has announced the delivery of one new Boeing 787-10 aircraft on long-term lease to EVA Air (Taiwan). This aircraft is the first of two 787-10 aircraft to deliver to EVA Air from ALC’s order book with Boeing, joining four 787-9s and four 777-300ERs currently on lease to the airline. The second 787-10 is scheduled to deliver to EVA Air in 2020.

EVA Air Takes Delivery of Its First Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner

EVA Air is celebrating the delivery of its first Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, marking the first of 20 super-efficient 787-10s the carrier plans to use on high-density routes within Asia later this summer. The airline, which is also celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, already operates a fleet of four 787-9 Dreamliners.

"The 787 Dreamliner has become the flagship of our fleet and we will leverage the aeroplane's unrivalled fuel efficiency, reliability and size to operate high-density markets in Asia," said Steve Lin, Chairman of EVA Air. "The 787-10 offers around 15 % more cabin space and cargo capacity compared to our existing 787-9s and this added capability will allow us to explore new opportunities for future growth in the emerging markets within Asia Pacific. As a five-star airline, we are committed to providing world-class service and products to our customers and these new aeroplanes will be key to our long-term success."

Passenger demanded cabin crew wipe his ass then moans in pleasure.

An EVA Air flight attendant has told a press conference of the humiliating moment a passenger weighing 440Ib's forced her to wipe his rear end while he ‘moaned in pleasure.’ 

The cabin crew member, named only as Kuo, told the media the unnamed 31-stone man asked the cabin crew to lower his trousers and underwear so he could relieve himself, he then demanded that they wipe his dirty posterior, and then re-wipe him when their first attempts were not satisfactory.

According to local reports, Kuo said the obese man had boarded the flight from Los Angeles to Taiwan on 19th January and had demanded three seats to himself because of his size.  He also demanded to be allowed to use the business class toilet as he couldn't fit in the economy toilets.  The man allegedly told the cabin crew that a hand injury meant he couldn't undress himself or wipe up after going to the toilet.

EVA Air has been ranked highly in two categories in the Airline Excellence Awards from global airline safety and product rating website AirlineRatings.com. EVA Air earned the eighth  position among the World's Top 10 Airlines 2019 and "Best Long-Haul Airline Asia/Pacific."

EVA and Copa Airlines agree codeshare deal

Two Star Alliance members are coming together for a codeshare deal that commences on 4th November that will benefit the passengers of both carriers.

EVA Air and Copa Airlines have confirmed they will begin a code-sharing agreement on 4 November, 2018, making travel to and from Asia and Panama more convenient and extending services for both airlines’ passengers. Under the codeshare, Copa passengers can take EVA-operated flights to Taipei from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and New York. Inbound from Asia, EVA passengers can connect through these same cities to fly Copa to Panama City. 

EVA Air, Boeing and Air Lease Corp celebrate the airlines first 787-9 Dreamliner

The US giant plane maker Boeing, together with Air Lease Corp and EVA Air are celebrating today the delivery of the airline's first 787-9 Dreamliner, via lease from ALC, at Boeing's South Carolina Delivery Center. 

The Taiwan based airline, EVA Air plans to debut the long-range aircraft on international routes from November. "This milestone delivery marks the beginning of a new era for EVA Air as we continue to revolutionise Taiwan's dynamic commercial aviation industry," said Steve Lin, Chairman of EVA Air. "The 787 Dreamliner's extraordinary efficiency and passenger-pleasing cabin features will further elevate EVA Air's position as a five-star global airline. We are excited to introduce the 787 into our fleet and they will play an integral role in our success going forward."

Today's delivery marks the first of 24 Dreamliners for the Taipei-based carrier, who first announced an order for the type in 2015.  "ALC is pleased to deliver this historic first Boeing 787-9 to EVA Air and further our strong relationship with a world-class airline," said Steven Udvar-Házy, Executive Chairman of Air Lease Corporation. "As the first airline in Taiwan to operate a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, EVA Air will continue to excel as a leading international airline with the most technologically advanced and fuel-efficient fleet."

Last week EVA Air announced its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner would be delivered at a special ceremony located at Boeing's South Carolina centre in Charleston on 2nd October.  However, the carrier gave us all a little sneak preview of the event by showing us inside the new aircraft that has room for 304 passengers.

“The introduction of Boeing 787 Dreamliners is essential to our continuous pursuit of service excellence,” said EVA President Clay Sun. “We have adopted a more modern, globalized design concept and combined it with Boeing’s latest aviation technologies to create a luxurious cabin environment and provide all our passengers with an even more comfortable flying experience.”

The airline has configured the aircraft to accommodate 26 passengers in its Royal Laurel Class, a true business product and 278 in economy class.  The carrier chose Designworks, a BMW Group company, to synchronize the airline’s international brand image and the Dreamliner’s unique craftsmanship into the design of this latest generation of Royal Laurel Class seats. The design team stepped away from conventional aircraft design and used core concepts of space and brand to create tailor-made business class seats seamlessly integrated into a bespoke cabin environment. The team used mature, muted colours to enhance the feeling of a comfortable, spacious environment.

The Top Ten Airlines In The World - 2018

Skytrax held its 2018 World Airline Awards on Tuesday 17th July at The Langham Hotel, London and has published the results of a 10 month long survey period in which travellers from around the world rated airlines on a number of key areas. There were some surprises in the complete listings, for example British Airways didn't even make the top thirty and Ryanair being rated above United.

The top airlines according to TripAdvisor

TripAdvisor®, the travel planning and booking site, today announced the winners of its Travelers' Choice® awards for airlines, identifying travelers' favorite carriers around the globe. For 2018, Singapore Airlines was named the number one airline in the world and Southwest Airlines ranked as the best U.S. carrier. Juneyao Airlines Announces Codeshare Partnership with EVA Air

Juneyao Airlines, one of the leading private-owned airlines in mainland China and the first "Connecting Partner" of Star Alliance, has started a codeshare partnership with EVA Air on routes across the Taiwan Straits from March 26, 2018. EVA Air is adding its popular Hello Kitty Hand-in-Hand Jet into its Los Angeles schedule from today, Tuesday 27th March. It is using the specially painted plane on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for three of the 21 nonstop flights it operates between Los Angeles and Taipei, Taiwan every week.

787's for Eva Air

Boeing are the big winners in the aircraft manufactures' battle to supply Taiwanese airline EVA Air for their major fleet renewal programme.

 

EVA have decided to stick with Boeing, despite evaluating both Airbus and Boeing aircraft in what is a major wide-body fleet renewal. According to local media the airlines chairman Kuo Wei Chang said his plans were to increase the fleet from its current 62 aircraft total to around 100 planes.
